Celebrating 10 years as a specialist Newborn, Maternity & Family Photographer

Naomi Seccombe Photography was first established in 2012 but after three years of education, practicing my craft, lots of business planning and the birth of my first-born, I knew I wanted to specifically focus my business on photographing Newborn babies, Maternity and Families. In 2015 that's exactly what I did! I knew I wanted to spend my time working with beautiful like-minded mums & families who cherish the special memories I'd create for them... Ten years on, thousands of babies & families later and that's still what I'm most passionate about!
During my first few years, I photographed everything I could to gain as much experience & learn my craft. From events, horse racing, local sports, families, boudoir, babies, businesses and anything in between. I attended many workshops & education classes with international photographers as well as Australian high-class successful photographers to learn as much as I could about photographing newborn babies, maternity & families. I challenged myself by completed a Certificate IV in Photography which was something completely out of my comfort zone. Adult education is very daunting, but it was rewarding!
After the birth of my first-born, I was lapping up everything there was about being a mum - I was buried in breastfeeding, bottles, meal prep, washing, sleepless-ness... I suddenly realised that my baby was 10 weeks old and I'd not taken any photos of her that were not using my phone on weird angles and there were only a small handful of photos of myself & my husband with her - That's when I knew.
That's when I realised that I wanted to ensure every mum had the opportunity to have beautiful photos of not just her baby, but herself and her family at this exciting moment in their lives. Needless to say when I was pregnant with my second child - I had booked photos over every single stage of pregnancy, birth & baby! And they are some of my most cherished images!
My business has led me on many different paths and I've been so grateful for the community I've built along the way and the support I receive. My business has looked different during different seasons - Home studio, Commercial Studio, on site at over a hundred local Daycare & Kindergartens. There is one thing that shines through brighter than anything else - My passion for Mums, motherhood and babies.
This year I've really confirmed that when you do something you love and are passionate about - you excel in that area, and it does not feel like work.
That is the reason for the rebrand. That is the reason for the website redesign. It's been a challenging 18 months both in business & personally. I needed to find myself again and find what I wanted this business to look like moving forward. I needed to reconnect with and realign with my 'why' and reflect on the past 13 years as a photographer, business owner & mum.
I've headed back to my beautiful new home studio in Moe. This is where I feel like I'm welcoming clients in through the doors for them to be truly pampered and treated with kindness and they leave as friends.
Where I can spend an entire day soaking up the beautiful light while editing your beautiful images after your session. Where there are more colourful blankets, wraps and props than the rainbow and everything has a place!
What's even more exciting - Is the opportunity to dive even deeper in to the Newborn, Maternity & motherhood space. Being able to connect with local mums and support them with not just beautiful images but whatever else comes to my space. I've ran parenting, breastfeeding & photography workshops in the past as well as social events - these will be on the cards again! With a renewed energy and a passion stronger than ever, you can rest assured that when you choose me as your photographer for your family - you'll be treated like a friend and leave with something more than just photos.
Upon reflecting over the past decade, there are many unique opportunities I’ve been able to photograph. It's always a privilege being asked to photograph someone for the final time and to give families a way to remember their loved one by. I have been a volunteer Heartfelt Photographer and attended many still-births and it's truly a rewarding experience knowing you are giving a family something so precious and that you know will be truly treasured. I've built many friendships through my work and many clients have become by biggest supporters and cheerleaders. One special memory I have is photographing the birth of Zavier, then going on to photograph his entire first year, first Christmas, first everything...then getting to meet his little sister Ariella and photograph her first year as well. I was welcomed into a place where woman are most vulnerable and I got to photograph a little miracle being born, then watch the family grow. Career highlight!!
